BTW, the spaces in such tempo marks is quite inconsistent in hand-engraved 
scores: Most of them place a space before and after the =, but no space after 
the ( and no space before the ), i.e.
    Andante maestoso (note = count)
However, some of them only place a space after the ( and the =, i.e.
    Andante maestoso ( note= count)
And some place spaces in all places:
    Andante maestoso ( note = count )
