Most of the Linux distributions have Lilypond and some even have
Frescobaldi in their catalogs...its very easy to setup and run on Linux
since it's the reference platform as best I can tell.

On Macs, I'd suggest Homebrew or MacPorts to get Lilypond and then just
download Frescobaldi from the Github site.

I use it on both Lubuntu Linux and MacOS 15.7 without issues.
