Here are the technical details. The strings are part of a Python
script called `create-weblinks-itexi.py`, see the beginning of
https://gitlab.com/lilypond/lilypond/-/blob/master/scripts/build/create-weblinks-itexi.py
for the translations we currently have.
The strings eventually appear in localized versions of the LilyPond
website.
Contrary to (almost) all other translations of strings that are used
in localized messages emitted by `lilypond`, `musicxml2ly`, and other
tools, this file isn't handled by the GNU 'gettext' framework, making
it necessary to maintain the translations directly and not via the
standard mechanism of `.po` files[*] – this is old issue #1050 filed
14 years ago.

Note that `create-weblinks-itexi.py` is a build script for the
LilyPond documentation, i.e., an ordinary LilyPond user never sees it.
There might be problems with the existing translation strings, too;
for example, the implied word order is based on English and thus could
fail to fit a particular language. If you notice such problems please
report them so that we can work on it.
