If you want those lyric-durations to have more meaning then a comment, you can't use \lyricsto. \lyricsto assigns lyrics to the notes of the associated Voice, _ignoring_ the given duration. Thus bar-checks may fail. Actually your lyrics has seven syllables for eight notes of the associated voice. If you _want_ to use \lyricsto then you need to create a melisma for Two4 versus two eight notes of the Voice. One method: eighthNotes = { c'8 8 \melisma 8 \melismaEnd 8 \break c'8 8 8 8 c'8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 } Cheers, Harm
