I’m impressed by all the work and thought you’ve put into this! It 
overwhelmed me a bit, though, and I can’t really get in on the 
development there, right now. Also, I’m sure you didn’t mean it that 
way, but the improvement to the LSR snippet is worthwile regardless, I 
think.
Going to greater lengths though—while reading your code I wondered 
whether it wouldn’t make sense to go the step of not taking strings as 
arguments (specifying the accidental glyphs) but either pitches or 
alterations (+1, -2…), especially if it’s supposed to work for MIDI. But 
that may well be of no use as a suggestion.
