I've been testing the 2.5 series a bit and the new self contained packages offered by the Development Team. This is great progress. I have had some font and spacing issues with the 2.5.2x versions that I have tried. The last one tested for me was the latest 2.5.27 package which did seem to solve the font problems but the bar lines are still very thick. On my system, the self contained package does not quit automatically. After the file is compiled, it switches to viewing the file in Adobe Acrobat Reader. In order to quit, I then have to switch to the Lilypond application and quit it. Could this be automated? I have noticed that you simply cannot drag another file to the application that is already open. Also all of the resulting output is placed on my already polluted desktop. Is it possible to have the output placed in the directory where the source file (.ly) was? I also got the impression that the this application can be run from the terminal, but the information on how to accomplish this was not sufficient that I could get it to work (how to get the script file to run). Point and click also does not do anything (the line number and position on the line are displayed in Acrobat Reader though). Is this still a feature in progress or is there something that might be causing a problem on my system? I do think that this is a very positive approach to packaging Lilypond. I would like to be able to go back to the 2.4.5 version that I have built as I have some things that I need predictable results for. When re-installing v.2.4.5 on Mac OS X.3.4, I get the following when running a file through Lilypond:
GNU LilyPond 2.4.5 Processing `TopMaj.ly' Parsing... Interpreting music... [6] Preprocessing graphical objects... Calculating line breaks... [3] Interpreting music... MIDI output to `TopMaj.midi'... Track... Layout output to `TopMaj.tex'... Converting to `TopMaj.dvi'... Error invoking `latex \\nonstopmode \\input TopMaj.tex > /dev/null 2>&1 '. Return value 256 Converting to `TopMaj.ps'... Error invoking `dvips -t "letter" -u+ec-mftrace.map -u+lilypond.map -Ppdf TopMaj > /dev/null 2>&1 '. Return value 256 Converting to `TopMaj.pdf'...Error invoking `ps2pdf -sPAPERSIZE="letter" TopMaj.ps > /dev/null 2>&1 '. Return value 256 There is a .pdf file produced, but is is blank. Can anyone tell me what need to be fixed? Thanks a bunch.
