lilypond.org/unix.html gives you a shell script that you can
run to get a standalone installation in any location (with
the --prefix=/home/user/lilypond-something switch).
(Apparently no PPA or Flatpak version.)
I seem to recall that the Frescobaldi Flatpak package actually bundles
LilyPond. Maybe Federico can tell more?
