I have debian/woody and lilypond 2.4.2. I understand that there is a problem with the tex installation. I followed the steps on the CTAN page. The testfile: sample.text works without problems. But "lilypond example-1.ly" still produces the error: Layout output to `example-1.tex'... Converting to `example-1.dvi'... Error invoking `latex \\nonstopmode \\input example-1.tex > /dev/null 2>&1 '. Return value 256 Converting to `example-1.ps'... Error invoking `dvips -t "a4" -u+ec-mftrace.map -u+lilypond.map -Ppdf example-1 > /dev/null 2>&1 '. Return value 256 Converting to `example-1.pdf'...Error invoking `ps2pdf -sPAPERSIZE="a4" example-1.ps > /dev/null 2>&1 '. Return value 32512 ----------------- The latex command says: This is e-TeXk, Version 3.141592-2.1 (Web2C 7.5.2) %&-line parsing enabled. (/usr/share/texmf/web2c/cp8bit.tcx) kpathsea: Running mktexfmt latex.efmt running `tex -ini -jobname=latex -progname=latex latex.ini' ... (/usr/share/texmf/web2c/cp8bit.tcx) (/usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/config/latex.ini (/usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/base/latex.ltx (/usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/config/texsys.cfg) ./texsys.aux found ..... No pages of output. Transcript written on latex.log. fmtutil: /opt/TeX/texmf-var/web2c/latex.fmt installed. (Fatal format file error; I'm stymied) Can You help me out? Thanks!!
