It looks as if you have installed the brand new version 3.0 of teTeX, is that right? In that case, I'm afraid that LilyPond 2.4.2 can get into some minor problems, since it was designed to work together with version 2 of teTeX. If you don't want the new teTeX for any other purposes, it might be easiest to install version teTeX version 2.x instead.
I have also encountered some problems with the default installation of
teTeX in Debian/Woody, but have never realized if if was general problems or something specific in my installation. Anyway, I ended up
compiling and installing my own teTeX version 2.something at that time.
