Real simple would be
repeattype = "volta"
... \repeat \repeattype 2 { ... } ...
That *is* simple ... if someone else apart from you would have suggested
that this works at all, I probably wouldn't have believed it.
Try
define-void-function (even without arguments) for creating something
that behaves like a function.

As for the other problems, I haven't been able to solve them,
unfortunately. I'm giving up now ...
