I've had a look at 2.2.1. I've tried extening the stem instead. I just don't
see why \cross staff can't work in my current code? I've had too many other
compromises trying re approaching the RotationalArrays.ly

score from scratch different just to implement \crossstaff the way the
manual demonstrates?
