Hi,

Happy LilyPond user here, for many years.

I doubt this is a problem with LilyPond per se — possibly trouble lies
within my environment — but lately I've encountered something very
strange: font size for text has exploded when I compile LilyPond files
that used to look fine in the past using the very same LilyPond version.

Example:

%%% snip here
\version "2.18.2"

\score {
        \new TabStaff {
                c4\5
        }
}
%%% snip here

That gives me a tablature score with overly large text. I've tried
upgrading LilyPond to 2.19.64, I get the same result.

Not sure what the file attachment policy is on this mailing list; find
the PDF and PNG outputs as well on:

Now I wonder, as LilyPond has a peculiar way of dealing with fonts, what
can I try to debug this situation that makes LilyPond mostly unusable
for me?

In case you're wondering, I'm running a Gentoo GNU/Linux system.

Thanks in advance,
