QtCreator has been recommended to me, though, and maybe others could chime in with their preferences. Development is made *considerably* easier by LilyDev: see http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.19/Documentation/contributor/lilydev Whenever you're able to help, whatever you can do will be appreciated!
