Don't just forget about it -- you've discovered a real bug, which deserves
to be exposed and at least documented.  I'm not sure how LilyPond midi
is created, nor really how midi works at all, so this might not be easy
to fix.  But it should at least be documented under the "BUGS" section.

If you run the attached file, it works as expected.  But when you uncomment
the commented-out staff, the final staff doesn't produce any sound at all.
(I was expecting to hear a gunshot at least, but maybe there's something
wierd with my midi setup)

MacOSX 10.3, Lilypond 2.1.16 compiled via fink.
