If the contribution related to a small part of a large message, I would prefer that a person in this situation wait for a more convenient time and trim the quotation to the relevant part. LilyPond does not move so fast that it can't wait until tomorrow to reduce the risk of miscommunication.
If someone who just deleted the master branch top-posted "sry fixing it", I would understand.
