It is a political discussion, and has been before my contribution. Things are interconnected.
There are people keeping up the resistance and not using a billionaire-made mail client. The standards for these mailing lists are made in order to allow everyone to access the content well, regardless of interface, and if we were going to force people to use a certain interface, it would have to be free software, in the full sense of the term.
This is a GNU project, after all. Best, Simon
