John, if you're reading this: don't worry, I'm going to do all the
build system modifications myself. :)
If you want to see the plan you described done before August, then it's
a very good idea :-) ; fortunately, the involved changes in makefiles
should not be too tricky... except for modifying "dist" target: it is
problematic to release Lily sources with the website, so docs/web/
should be excluded from this target.
