Good morning everybody. This e-mail means to be a quick update on the license-review project I’ve been working on in the past few weeks.
It aims to create a systematic and well-ordered database of all the licenses that have been submitted to OSI to be approved since its foundation, whether approved, withdrawn, voluntarily retired or rejected by the board. I have created two different sheets: - The first one refers to the approved licenses, and I’ve tried to fill it with as many information as possible about them (es: license stewart, license contact, date of submission, date of approval…) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1G7u57yT2QcsL6nwuOExKCQd1MUOm1LL35Q7wEAsxFzM/edit#gid=0 ; - The second one refers to all other licenses, and for each one I’ve noted the date of submission, the license contact, and whether it had been approved, withdrawn or rejected https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1G7u57yT2QcsL6nwuOExKCQd1MUOm1LL35Q7wEAsxFzM/edit#gid=1186567974 . To fulfill the mentioned sheets, I have gone through the public license review mailing list (2008 - 2023) https://lists.opensource.org/pipermail/license-review_lists.opensource.org/, the license discuss mailing list (1999 - 2007) http://lists.opensource.org/pipermail/license-discuss_lists.opensource.org/, the public board meeting minutes (2005 - 2023) https://opensource.org/wp-admin/edit.php?s&post_status=all&post_type=meeting-minutes&action=-1&m=0&paged=1&action2=-1 and https://wiki.opensource.org/bin/Main/OSI%20Board%20of%20Directors/Board%20minutes/ . Unfortunately I am finding some difficulties in finishing this phase of the project: I need to somehow find the minutes of board meetings that occurred before 2005, and the list of pre-approved licenses (I found out in the license discussion mailing list that some licenses were approved when OSI was first founded). I am going to double-check the sheet containing the approved licenses, with Stefano’s approval and under his supervision, in order to be able to publish all the data I’ve collected on the OSI website. Meanwhile, if any of you has some information regarding the above mentioned problem, I would really appreciate it if they could share it with me. Best regards, Giulia
