Follow-up Comment #10, sr #110901 (group libtool): Looks like MSys is still in (very inactive) use. The project page has two years old activity. Some large projects, like libcurl, are still testing for the original MSys/MinGW. I wouldn't drop support for now, as it is easy to check for 'cygpath' availability and use it, if it is present.
Not directly related: libtool could be inspected for other path conversions as
cygpath is much faster than conversion via cmd.
