I think you are over-reaching here:

  dimensions:    3600x1080 pixels (905x272 millimeters)
  resolution:    101x101 dots per inch

In fact, in several years of daily linux use, I've always had a reality-based 
DPI in X on single monitor systems, and lately, on my dual-monitor setups.  I'd 
like to hear just which distributions are hardcoding DPI, and whether they are 
using 75 or some other.
