lftp supports a great many other protocols beyond plain ftp, and 404 Not Found
is most definitely a http/https error code. What’s happening then in your case
is that lftp is trying to connect to the http web server rather than the ftp
file server on your address.
Try prefixing your address with ftp:// such as ftp://example.com
<ftp://example.com/>
Very, very few people these days however use or allow plain ftp for uploads!
Double-check the protocol settings in your working FIlezilla setup — you very
likely could be using the SFTP protocol instead, in which case the prefix would
be sftp://
