Like I said... "other than when I first set it up". It's something I needed to know just once since I built this system a year or so ago, and never needed to look at since. It's not disingenuous - it's a genuine question, as to why it's the end of the world if the network device is called something other than "eth0". I get that people might not like the new convention, but I seriously don't understand why people seem to get so angry about it, to the point where they're talking about things in terms like "abomination", and "ruining Linux".
