Yes -- grub 1. Anything with 'stage' in it is GRUB Legacy. >> If you'd allow me to rant just for a second--or longer--the >> documentation for grub over the years has left a little to be desired > > I rant with you. > ... a lot to be desired ... > Maybe grub "2" is lazy to write documentation, so they refer to lfs docs. > ... or maybe they haven't decided how it works ... Not really. There just are not a lot of developers. They are quite active, but they are concerned with a lot of things. After all, is is not a 2.0 version. Just think of all the things they deal with: Disk Hardware Screen Hardware Keyboard Hardware BIOS Network Hardware Serial IO Disk Partition types including RAID, LVM, NTFS, etc Operating Systems (Linux, BSD, Windows, various Unixes) Writing a boot loader for a particular configuration e.g. DOS Partitions, USB Keyboard, VGA Monitor, ext2 partition, sata drives, and Linux would not be that hard considering the state of the art, but it wouldn't be very flexible. -- Bruce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
