 Someone said that starting again may be the best policy.  There
is some truth in that, but people can make the same error each
time.

That looks ok, so I'm out of ideas.  You have a working compiler
here, but when you call it from a configure script, it doesn't
create the 'a.out' file.  All I can suggest now is that you -

delete the binutils-build and binutils-2.20.1 directories

try section 5.9 again.

 If that works, there was probably a typo somewhere.
