Speaking only for myself, I don't understand the glibc build process well enough to know whether such a message indicates a real problem. The book has a lot of discussion about possible error messages but it doesn't mention this one. That's useful! It would be nice if the book documented that (a) the annexc.out test is expected to fail, (b) the critical test is whether you see "make: *** [check] Error 2" at the end.
