Again, it's not just about disk space or available RAM. It's about (as one example) the time it takes (and ease of) dynamically spinning up new virtual instances when a web cluster suddenly gets loaded down. People seem to forget how to achieve performance because technology is cheap. They've thrown caution to the wind regarding size (among other things) and lose sight of the fact that they _need_ more powerful hardware to achieve what they used to be able to do on less because they've let their code and system become unnecessarily bloated.
