No. --enable-languages=c is in the script jhalfs made from the LFS xml. target-libgfortran target-libgo target-libffi target-libjava target-libobjc are not built because the source is not available... which led me try a new solution: rm -rf zlib. It worked. I think it's a neater solution than the patch, so I think I'll be doing that in future.
