Some of "my rules for my distro": I refine that slightly and go with /usr/src/lfs/usr/(pkgname)/ and /usr/src/lfs/usr-local/(pkgname)/ so that there's a differentiation between the "system" (--prefix=/usr) and the "local" packages. (Some BLFS packages are "system"). I recall it was useful to be able to just mount a source hierachcy on /usr/src/lfs.
