 And since LFS is all about learning, I'll attempt to
explain what you were asking about.  The problem
was that recent versions of glibc defined futimens.
At that time, several packages had their own internal
versions of futimens.  Gzip was the last of those
packages to get a new release that  fixed the problem.

 Specifically, it's nothing to do with bash code.  The
loop you queried runs sed on the source files to
rename futimens to gl_futimens.
