Sorry for the obsolete information. With package versions in the current LFS 
and 
the next-generation build method, I get:

# ldd /usr/sbin/nscd
        linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xffffe000)
        librt.so.1 => /lib/librt.so.1 (0xb7f3f000)
        libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0xb7f27000)
        libnsl.so.1 => /lib/libnsl.so.1 (0xb7f12000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0xb7de4000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7f49000)

I.e., no libssp problem, although libssp.so.0 does exist in /tools/lib.
