OK, I need to (re-)read before posting. Sheesh. ;-) > Also, the LFS book explicitly disables the installation of su from > Coreutils via a patch (always has I think?). In chapter 6, yes, it does. But chapter 5's su (which the current SVN book copies to /tools/bin/su-tools) is not suppressed (probably because we aren't root, so it doesn't matter). The hint hasn't been updated in a while, so it still says to do the copying. The v6.0 book apparently didn't create su-tools for the chapter-6 coreutils tests. And I'm thinking that the patch has not always included disabling su, but I don't know that for sure (and I can't prove it either). I seem to remember that patch coming out of a request to get rid of the binaries that we knew were installed by multiple programs, so maybe it did. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.7 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFHYG19S5vET1Wea5wRA8YSAJ4nljYAFL5MPIgnegzjAIlkDmGs1wCgsgm/ yBzob7XIxuyejbBfv/KqnIw= =ApmM -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/faq/ Unsubscribe: See the above information page
