Could you post the error message? What exact header set did you use?
Just removing linux/compiler.h without removal of compiler.h references
and the correct seds for __user etc. is likely to fail.

Not for the first time, I've produced a duff bug report - I wasn't playing with CLFS, it was the udev branch, so it was glibc-2.3.6. The headers came from Jim's script, somewhere around version 00.20.

In file included from ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/sys/sysctl.h:44,
                 from ../include/sys/sysctl.h:2,
                 from ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/dl-osinfo.h:22,
                 from ../sysdeps/generic/libc-start.c:32:
/tools/include/linux/sysctl.h:23:28: error: linux/compiler.h: No such file or directory
make[2]: *** [/mnt/lfs/glibc-build/csu/libc-start.o] Error 1

I think I'll just go and hide until somebody passes me the brown paper bag.
