If you want to go for best compatibility, sure; I currently aim to get
the header set as clean as possible, i.e. applications including
unnecessary header files shall break. For LFS, compatibility is probably
better for now, though.

FWIW, I couldn't compile glibc-2.4 on x86 (CLFS-style) in the absence of linux/compiler.h (using 2.6.16-rc6).
