Hello Everyone, I apologize in advance for this being off-topic, but I also feel it's a little necessary.
The recent dispute between myself and Randy on this list was totally inappropriate, especially considering that this isn't the first time that it has happened. I have apologized before when this has happened, and I don't think it would be right to neglect doing that now. Therefore, please accept my apologies for my participation in those outbursts. Whether I was right or not, whether I was attacked or not (or whether it was all perceived) it isn't right for me to add fuel to the flames. I came across something today which really struck me, and I wish that I had applied its wisdom more often on these lists: Proverbs 15:28 "The heart of the righteous one meditates so as to answer, but the mouth of the wicked ones bubbles forth with bad things." Please don't think that I'm calling anyone wicked. :) Only that I wish I had given some more time and thought into my replies. Randy, I very much respect your abilities and the work you have done in BLFS. Also in the Trac thread you brought up some valid points in connection to making sure everything is well tested; there's a measure of experience and maturity showing in that stance. I have been trying very hard to view your messages objectively. Some of your recent ones, before the Trac thread, were *very* well done and considerate. Please try to extend to me the same sort of respect. Lastly, you have used several times the phrase 'we are all men here', which seems to indicate that you think that means anyone can say whatever they like to whomever they like; the intended target will just have to 'take it like a man.' That misses the import of Richard's comment about this in another thread - that such a practice in another age would have gotten you killed pretty quickly - so be polite. Being inconsiderate is not, and never has been, the measure of a true man. -- JH -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/faq/ Unsubscribe: See the above information page
