A quick summary of changes: The ghost PIDs (and false already running
messages) have been fixed; boot_mesg() has been greatly simplified
without the text wraping; and logging was moved out of the standard
scripts. There will still need more changes when 2.6.15 and no
hotplug/udev changes occur.
Is there any hope to include the UTF8-aware console script? It is fully
backwards-compatible with the existing one.
I can't see any reason not to, lets get it tested.
Also, one other suggestion. With known changes coming, I think 'pre' is
too early. I'd say use a dated tarball for the development book for
now. If no objections, I'll scrap the existing ones in my home dir since
they've never been mentioned until just a few seconds ago anyway. Guess
I need to re-install that set as I'm far, far from those nowadays. I've
been using a partially complete LSB style setup, which I'll try and
introduce to contrib someday soon.
