And to think I resigned my BLFS position once, for doing the same
exact thing (making a change on my own, without consulting the group).
For the record, the changes stayed, but I felt so bad about doing
something without consulting the group, I felt I had betrayed the
trust of the community.

I was persuaded to come back, however, I swore I'd never make
non-trivial changes again without consulting the group.
