silver lining?  methinks not, where is Bates going to get the million 
quid a year rent from if he only has a third division crowd to milk?  if 
relegation is a reality before the end of the season we are more likely 
to see voluntary administration to avoid the 10 point penalty and to 
give the saviour of Leeds United breathing space to negotiate with his 
creditors/landlord.

there are a whole shed load of ramifications relating to relegation 
which must be keeping our septugenarian leader awake at nights.
