The results on Saturday are more than foreboding. Even if we miraculously win both of our remaining games, we will still go down if Hull win their possibly easier matches. That our fate has passed from our own hands is now unarguable.
Of course, mathematical possibility still has its chance of glory against mathematical probability and I would be delighted if we scrape through - but I wouldn't bet on it at this stage. Just a few years ago, we played the last game of the season at Derby who were doomed to relegation from the premier league and Leeds fans taunted them with a chant of "we'll never play you again..." Quite possibly we could be two leagues apart soon. The silver lining to this gathering cloud is that LUFC/ Roman Heavies [in liquidation?] doesn't own the ground, so at least we should be playing at Elland Road next season rather than South Leeds, or ground-sharing with Farsley. But relegation would leave the ticket pricing policy at Elland Road in total disarray for next season. Premiership prices argued as a necessity for climbing out of the "championship" won't wash next season. For 10,000 of us they didn't wash in this division when the team failed to turn up, week in, week out. Even Leeds fans will not pay top dollar for the third division so Master Bates better put on his thinking cap. Perhaps the MNES could be sold off to Harrogate Town, who are in the market for a new stand I believe. Ho hum Dunderhead If you're not pissed off, you're not paying attention _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
