Apparently this is the same that Eirik Bakke noticed, though some people have changed since then (some in and out). According to Eirik, many of the players were by far more interested in drinking, partying and other non-sporting issues, than the work actually going on at the training field. So this is all in line with what you spotted...

And I know that we have had injuries but there was no team spirit on show and v. little commitment until the last few minutes. Caspar and Howson were the exception to the rule here, there were others who just got on with their job and there were others who had just turned up for the appearance money. This is bloody annoying to see because this was the reason for me giving up my ST two years ago, after three years of watching a so-called team that didn't turn up week in, week out.
