The only problem with all this Tim, is that it is pre-supposing that we
retain the current bunch of self abusers - sorry, players - that we have
now. Most of them will not fancy the drop and the lower league (and
presumably lower wages) if they could negotiate themselves a better
paying contract at, say, one of the Championship survivors, they would
do so in a heartbeat of course.

What are we left with then? The league one version of journeymen? When
is some money going to be spent on players?

Steve

This is what I was on about in the earlier post, r.e. The possible (Not
that we want to find out!) merits of going down. i.e. Clear the crap.
The
general standard to me appears to be very good lower Champ/Upper League
1
players. With the signs of one or two decent players sprinkled in. Now
...
Go down, play effectively the basis of the same squad but start to build
the new team from there, with people like Casper and Howson. Ultimately
resulting in a team that would be (and with the right investment it
SURELY
would be) too good for League 1. We then come back up with a squad that
we
can improve on, but is effectively FAR better than the one we've got now
... I dunno, it just seems to be fire ighting these days and no real
forward planning due to the state we're in.
