John,

I agree with some of the negative points made about O'Leary, but find it
unbelievable that he is still constantly pilloried by some fans - oh to be
at the turn of the millennium again and watching that football rather than
the utter shite (at top whack prices) that is being served up at present.
For Christ's sake, he gets more stick than Adamson did, and he was the worst
manager I can ever remember at Elland Road. O'Leary's biggest mistake in my
eyes (as I said in my original email and Phil has hinted at below) was the
appointment of that twat from across the pennines. Sir Eddie/O'Leary had us
playing some beautiful stuff prior to that, and the style and standard of
football undoubtedly declined as soon as Kidd had got settled in at the
SOTG.

Given his failure at Villa though, he is now viewed by fans as another
Keegan - unable to do the business without a bottomless wallet Chairman.

a very late in the day response, but I'm also of the opinion that O'Leary
couldn't find his ar*e with both hands. The crop of players he inherited
should and could ahve delivered so much more. O'Leary looked completely
baffled once any challenges came along, and he didn't change my view at
Villa. Hopefully football has seen the last of him, although I believe he'll
be starring in the Xmas episode of A League of Gentlemen.

what planet are you on pal, things must be bad if we are revising DOL's
record at Leeds.

This was the bloke who constantly played players out of position, refused to

make substitutions when the game was crying out for changes and frankly lost

the dressing room. In big games he stood with his hands folded when changes
had to be made (one example of many being the CL Semi 2nd leg away
Valencia). The last season he was there our football was shocking, scraping
wins and our performances did not warrant our league position.
