Can't even be bothered getting annoyed about this
performance. We were gubbed by an impressive Stoke
team who did all the simple things well and looked
like they had a yard of pace on us all over the park.
We look like a lost team, an unfit team, a team full
of players who can't even do the basics. We don’t have
the cutting edge to hurt teams and yet again when
Douglas managed to get a shot on target in the second
half the crowd sarcastically broke into loud applause
and cheers. When we got a gift of a penalty after
Duberry the clown (he looked like Sol Campbell in his
hey dey today against our lot !) pulled Cressy’s shirt
I thought maybe we can show a bit of pride and get
back into the game. No such thing. Cresswell who last
season fought with Hulse over the pen at Plymouth
immediately tossed the ball to Blake and said put it
away. Blake was gobsmacked and couldn’t believe it and
almost pleaded with Cressy to take it. Very strange.
Anyway , Blake’s bloody language was all wrong and he
missed the pen. Talking about body language – when
that third went in who was geeing the players on ?
Nobody. What is Butler doing these days ? He’s a shite
captain and is a disgrace to this club. To top it all
he’s a f’cking Manc – get rid I say.
The Kop chanted "You're not fit to wear the shirt"
after the third goal as loud as I've ever heard it
sang. It was followed by booing of the Leeds players
everytime they got the ball. I think it would be wrong
to single out an individual who was crap today cos
they weren't a team at all and I think we hit rock
bottom today in terms of confidence and realisation
that the team has no pattern, direction, leadership or
cohesion. If the rumours about unrest in the camp are
true then this could be the main reason why we don't
look like a happy bunch at the moment. Surely we have
to get rid of the main staff from the Blackwell era if
we are to start a fresh – That means Butler and
Carver.
>From the start Stoke caused us problems with the two
tall lads up front. It was all to do with pace and
Butler and Killa looked lost. Killa could have walked
for a desperate attempt to take down Diao. From the
resulting freekick Hendrie found the net all too
easily for my liking. Good freekick but Sully's a bit
fat and slow on the uptake isn't he ! Warner obviously
got dropped for his recent clangers. Can we please
drop some of the others after bad performances please
? Lewis and Westlake for starters should both give way
to youngsters for the next match. Lee Hendrie - I
never really rated him at Villa in the premiership but
at this level he looks like f'cking Johnny Giles.
Together with Delap they completely domintated
midfield and ran the game. It made you realise that
our best midfielder (Derry) lacks pace and ability and
could never play in the premiership. That's it really.
Nowt to say , other than we need a manager who has the
ability to bring players in like Hendrie and Delap and
get the team playing otherwise we're going down.

Sullivan – 1. Looks old , immobile and fat.
Kelly – 7 One man defence today. Ok, he’s on a lot of
money but he plays for the club and is proud to wear
the shirt. You can see that. Make him a stopgap
captain I say.
Wright – 3. Well, Carver dropped Crainey and that is
step 1 of a 100 in turning this club around but
unfortunately he brought a 35 year old in who looks
equally vulnerable in defence. He’s got a bit more
pace than Crainey but he’s not a great defender. He
played it neat and tidy and out in one or two good
crosses – but Crainey could do that !
Killa – 4. Poorish game. Really stuggled against their
two big lads in the first 25 mins. He made some good
tackles and interceptions but he doesn’t look on his
game to me. I’d like to see him play with Foxe at the
back. Butler as a partner would upset the best of
defenders.
Butler – 2. He won his fair share of headers and one
or two tackles but he’s found lacking so many times
and as a captain he just doesn’t fit the bill.
Westlake – 2. Sad to say it folks but this lad’s not
going to make it. Lack of pace. He’s got lead in his
boots which makes it difficult to do what he wants. I
think there’s a decent footballer somewhere in there
but unless he gets on a diet then there’s no hope. One
decent shot that went wide in the first half.
Derry – 2. Completely outplayed by Hendrie and Delap.
We rely on Derry to do everything for us – pass,
tackle, create chances when in reality he’s a
converted right back.
Lewis – 4. Started brightly and actually took his man
on. Didn’t last though and his second half performance
was atrocious.
Douglas – 6. Out of all the Leeds players I thought
Douglas (and Kelly) deserved their wages. He really
put himself about in a busy first half and really
tried to play a bit of pass and move football. He
just doesn’t have the quality to really change the
game but I can’t fault his effort. Faded second half.
Healy – 1. Didn’t have any service so didn’t
contribute. Dragged off after 60 + minutes to be
placed by Blake. Back to the Blackwell days I’m
afraid.
Horsfield – 3. Caused a few problems until he was
dragged off injured.

Subs :-

Blake – 1. Missed pen and did little.
Stone – 1. Old man.
Cresswell – 4. Ran around, got frustrated, got booked
and looked like he needs a few more games. We’ll need
him to stay up.

Carver – hard to judge. Do the player’s repsect him ?
Is there unrest ? It looks bad and I think Bates has
to get a new manager in quick to freshen things up.
Even Denis Wise would sort this shower out.
