Sean, we can only assume that he was trying to sign
someone as cover for Crainey. 
Let's think about this one for a minute. If he really
had decided that Crainey wasn't up to the job (you'd
really hope that this was the case but I doubt it)
then if he'd tried and failed to sign players surely
he just wouldn't give up and think , ah well, I'll
make do with a left back who isn't up to it. Of course
he wouldn't. He would have tried and tried to get a
loan signing in OR try other ideas e.g. Killa to left
back, Richardson to left back , Lewis to left back -
anything to plug the defensive frailities of Crainey -
but he didn't so we can only assume that he didn't see
Crainey as a weakness. Reason 1 why he got the sack.
