I have a Phillips Streamium and I'd recomend it...

Best wishes,

My IT Director got a Sonos system a while back - and I helped him out with
the wireless config on it. Quality is good, works ok with iTunes and
despite what Sonos say, its possible to use the first Sonos box somewhere
other that directly connected (via cable) to the pc holding all the songs -
you can connect the first Sonos box to this via wireless also, which means
you can use both the Sonos boxes in the starter kits in two separate rooms
and leave the PC hidden away in another room somewhere.

However, there is a lot happening on the streaming music front at the moment
and Philips have brought out a 'Wireless Music Centre' which includes a 40Gb
hdd so can be totally independent of any PC storage and can supply a further
4 units around the house, all playing different tunes etc if necessary. It
also has an Ethernet connection and can stream from PC, so would work in
your scenario too, it would just mean your PC would need to be turned on all
the time unless you copied a selection of favourite albums on to the
internal hdd.

You can pick up one of these for around £540 from amazon, I think that
includes the main unit plus one additional centre. I assume the additional
centre has some kind of speakers on it, but I know the main unit does. They
will all have line outs on them anyway, so you could plumb them into an
existing hifi/amp if you wanted to.

If you look further into this let me know how you get on because its
something Ive been meaning to do for ages now!

Cheers

Mark

Anyone know anything about this sort of thing? Have just converted my
basement and rather like the idea of just a control panel and speakers in
a few rooms all connected to my iTunes (Now that I've nearly copied my
1,000+ CD collection onto it, how dull is that job!!!). I've looked at the
Sonos and Opus websites, but don't know what kind of quality they are and
what I would be best looking at.
