I seem to remember back at the beginning of September saying that this would
be the most difficult spell of the season and I'd be surprised if we got as
many as five points.
We got three and in a couple of games got soundly thrashed.
The next five games will go a long way to determining whether or not Carver
is the man for the job - they are all winnable and the lessons from today
are painfully clear - defence needs sorting out and I'd hope to see Westlake
in for the injured Nicholls, Cresswell featuring, and Carole in for Lewis.
Crainey needs better cover, so switch the wing play to the right.
in October I'd play
Sullivan
Richardson Foxe Killgallon Crainey
Carole Stone Derry Westlake
Cresswell, Healy
on the bench Warner, Butler, Blake, Moore, Kelly
For the record, its early days for JC, today was a much needed reality check
for everyone - I'll say it now - as supporters we forget about promotion
this year, lower the expectations and support the team and the manager,
whoever it is. I fear a couple of wrong moves now and we will see the back
of this division - and not in a good way, my worry is the crowd will turn on
JC. Now more than ever, the crowd needs to get behind the team, all of the
team.
