I promise you that you'll almost be in tears.
Just walking towards the ground. Seeing the stadia and the new [for
us] Bremner statue.
The crowd. The accent.
Tell the guy next to you that I came from Israel just for this.
That's what I did. To my amazement he hugged me!

But mot of all when the boys come onto the pitch. I really struggled
not o to cry with emotion.

There is nothing like Leeds United.

Have a nice trip.

Mike - you're showing your age but what I remember from the boy's pen in
those days is that you've missed out our venerable captain Burden,
goalkeeper Searson (whose blunders were only later matched by Gladys) and
top goalscorer Ray Iggleden. Most of our goals in those days were John
Charles penalty conversions contrived by Walter Nightingale who invented the
dive (more like a swallow than a nightingale) long before todays artistes.

I'm getting excited before my first visit to Elland Road in almost 40 years
(I live in Israel) for the Wolves game. Following Leeds week in and week out
from such a distance has had its moments but its nowt like the real thing!
Gotta win!!

Cheers

Subject: [LU] Happy Days

Hi
I so agree with everything that you say [apart from Blair who I have
no opinion about but I would swap him for our bunch of tossers about
whom I have very strong opinions]

How about?

                                    Wood
                           Dunne Haire
        Gibson Charlton Kerfoot
Meek Forrest Charles Nightingale Overfield

That's when we went up for the first time after the war. King John
ruled Leeds with a mighty but gentle hand.
The greatest man to ever wear boots.
There will never be another.
As a Leeds and football lover I guess I was born really lucky to see
him. As a kid I idolised him.
His memory still brings warm feeling. I have his picture leaping for a
header as my wallpaper
The only thing that has not changed is the crowd. Warm, critical but
bloody funny. All one bunch of muckers. I remember my late Dad saying
listen to the roar. That's the Elland Roar.
Happy days.
I miss those days. But they'll be back.
After all we are Leeds.
Michael
