You include 2 loanee's in last season's midfield, who is to say we don't do
that again? That would make 9, plus this mysterious 'other' midfielder.

Stone was out all season, and was always going to be out all season, that's
why we got someone on loan. Bakke wasn't with us until January. Wright was
loaned out. So in actual fact we are about the same in numbers as last
year.

And if you are going to include reserve players (pugh and Walton) then you
may as well do that again this season.

A stronger squad is one where 'backup' players can come into the first 11
and not noticeably depreciate the quality of the side.

Walton, Pugh and Wright did. Douglas was moaned about by all and sundry.

The test, for me, is how the 'worst' 4 midfield players compare with the
worst 4 this season.

I can just imagine Blackwell putting out a midfield of Wright, Walton,
Douglas and Pugh!!

Midfielders available last season (Assuming injury free):
Stone, Bakke, Walton, Miller, Douglas, Lewis, Derry, Richardson, Wright,
Pugh.
Midfielders available THIS season (As we speak, assuming injury free):
Stone, Bakke, Lewis, Derry, Richardson, Nicholls, Carole.

Now could you please explain how that is strengthening the SQUAD? Not the
starting XI, the SQUAD? Less cover (7 players as opposed to 10), what we
thought of some of those individuals is irrelevant, I'm saying at the
moment in the KEY area that we, mostly, accept cost us last season, we're
worse off cover wise than we were last season and why it's good to sell a
player we've openly admitted to chasing for over 12 months (KB's words
after we signed him) whether or not we're signing Frank Lampard (Mind you,
after the world cup, we don't want him!!).
