Final word on this Jim.

You still don't seem to understand what I mean by he was good enough AT THE
TIME he was bought.

Think about it like a game of cards. Building a good football team is like
building a game of cards. You get dealt with a hand and you obviously want
to then gradually improve it as you play on, until you get a winning hand.

At the start of the game cards become available which will improve your hand
- not difficult because you have a crap hand to start with. As you move on
it becomes more and more difficult to improve the hand, you need better and
better cards to become available that will improve the hand.

Livermore became available and at the time he was signed he improved the
squad. As luck would have it, almost immediately after 2 other players
became available who were better (for the team) than Livermore was.
Livermore was bought and improved the team as it was, but then 2 better
players became available so to make way for them we had to sell on
Livermore.

Do you get it now? Its like playing rummy, picking up a card that has been
discarded because you think it improves your hand, and then the next card
discarded is even better, so you chuck the first card immediately to pick up
the better one.

To summarise, KB bought Livermore because he became available to him and he
thought he would improve the team and give him options. Noone else better
(for the team) was available at that time. As luck would have it two other
players suddenly and unexpectedly became available in midfield. Instead of
sticking with what we had, he did the brave thing and got those players in
and got rid of Livermore.

He improved the squad when he bought Livermore. He improved the squad
further when he got those other two in. He would NOT have bought Livermore
had those other 2 been available originally.

There we go...

I disagree. If he was (allegedly!) good enough to play 3 weeks ago, then
he's good enough now (unless he's caught shit off Gregan perhaps?). We
haven't even signed another midfielder - what if our "target" fails his
medical? Nicholls is probably out till October or so. I don't think
Livermore should have been bought at all, but if he has to be sold to
finance a deal, at least wait until the deal is done.

I completely agree that we need to improve our squad, but the way in which
we have gone about it I find very odd.

Now, I hope I don't need to clarify my position an further, cos I'm fed up
of justifying every bloody detail of my dislike of Blackwell!

He was deemed good enough AT THE TIME HE WAS BOUGHT.
