Fred Trueman's sad death and England's ignominious exit on Saturday got me
thinking about the teams I supported when growing up in the 60s. England won
the World Cup in 66 and were favourites to retain it in 1970... Leeds were
the best team even if we didn't win everything we should have... Fiery Fred
as kingpin in Yorkshire's greatest ever team... and England's cricketers
(helped by FS Trueman) were pretty good too. Shame it's been downhill ever
since.
