we get promoted and the pennies start rolling in then I even think he is
entitled to sell up at a profit and bugger off.
Hold on a minute. Yes of course this is all about Bates being cynical enough
to realise that in football, especially at certain clubs, demand is
price-inelastic. It is also about how the cynical old b* uses that knowledge
to exploit the fan base. If Bates were to bankroll the club (i.e. fund his
own investment) and then sell at a profit then I also would find it hard to
argue with it. My gripe is that he wants to use YOUR money, with all sorts
of accompanying cynical attempts at exploitation and blackmail, to feather
his own nest. What the fans may be discussing is all about Leeds United.
What Bates is doing is all about Bates.
